St Andrew and St Mary's Church
As a church school, we have very close links with St. Andrew and St Mary's Church, Condover. Reverend Geoff has recently retired, but was a regular visitor to our school leading worship most Tuesdays. Once a new vicar is appointed we are sure there will be a similar arrangement. Other members of the church also lead worship such as Ray Evanson who is a regular visitor to our school.
The whole school visits the church four times a year for special services to celebrate Harvest, Christmas, Easter and a special service for our Y6 Leavers and as part of our R.E. programme. Classes of children often visit the church as part of their curriculum work.
Rev Geoff and Ray Evanson have been active members of the Worship Committee supporting the children’s ideas and working as a team with the committee to lead church services for the school.
Rev Geoff organises an annual Prayer Spaces Day for the school inviting a Youth leader from the Church of England to come and set up creative prayer opportunities for all the children to build on their spiritual life in school. They are always well received by the children.
This summer Rev Geoff is retiring. The children will be sad to see him go but hope that his retirement in Wales is full of relaxation and fun. We hope that the children will be given a small part to play in the choosing of the next incumbent.
