Estuary Class
Welcome to Estuary Class
My name is Kate Varley and I am the class teacher. Liz Lowe and Jackie Corfield work in the classroom with me as teaching assistants.
This term our project is Materials. Every project begins with a question. This term ours is 'Should we make more effort to recycle materials?'
Our core text is Itch by Simon Mayo
There had in truth been many bangs, flashes and smells coming from his bedroom in the past. But there had been nothing like this one. Not that Itch was aware of any of that, as he was unconscious.
He would have stayed that way too if it hadn't been for the fact that his eyebrows were on fire.....
Itchingham Lofte - known as Itch - is fourteen, and loves science, especially chemistry. He's also an element-hunter: he's collecting all the elements in the periodic table. Which has some interesting and rather destructive results in his bedroom.
Then, Itch makes a discovery. A new element, never seen before. At first no one believes him - but soon someone hears about the strange new rock and wants it for himself. And Itch and his family are catapulted into a breathless adventure with terrifyingly high stakes . . .
