Reading texts:

Each reading group reads fiction and non-fiction books in their reading sessions. We read at least one fiction book every day.

In our writing lessons, we use the Talk for Writing approach. The children learn a class text that they study, analyse, innovate and use for inspiration for their own stories. This half term, the class text is Little Charlie. 

Class information

PE

PE is taught on a Tuesday afternoon with Miss Monk and a Thursday afternoon with Miss Amplett.

Drinks and fruit

Please ensure that your child brings a drink of water to school each day. This needs to be in a labelled bottle that we can keep in the classroom which can be accessed during the day. Your child will receive a piece of fruit during morning break. Milk is optional and can be prepaid via School Money.

Homework

Homework will be set on a Friday. This includes:

• Reading
• Spelling

Reading

Reading practice books will be sent home on a Friday and need to be returned for the following Friday, along with their yellow reading journals. Their spelling score is also recorded in here.

Your child will choose and bring sharing books home. They will not be able to read this on their own. This book is for you both to read and enjoy together.
